Kid Shit

Fact:  Kids accumulate shit.  LOTS AND LOTS of shit.  This shit, at one point or another, seeps out of the designated "kid shit" areas and receptacles and somehow completely and utterly takes over your entire house.  Those of you that have kids know all too well what I'm talking about.  For those that don't have kids or those that soon will, here is a little rhyme just for you!

Kid shit on the desk.

 Kid shit on the chair.

Kid shit on the sofa.

And kid shit on the stair!

 

Kid shit in the downstairs bath.

Kid shit in the hall.

 

  Kid shit in the master bath, the most sacred room of all.

Kid shit in MY CLOSET.

Kid shit on the lawn.

Kid shit in the dining room.

All day long!

There is no room for our stuff.
Ain't no way that it can fit.
I'll need a bigger house
To store all this freakin' shit!

Hurricane Piglet

Yesterday Hurricane Piglet rolled through town leaving a trail of devastation and destruction in her wake.







Eventually the storm made landfall and thankfully lost all intensity!

The entirety of Saturday was spent clearing the wreckage.

In the true tradition of holiday spirit...

I will likely be taking the next couple of weeks off from my blogging duties (not to say that I've been so great about attending to them the past couple of months!) I have two little kids who want to see movies, want to make gingerbread cookies, want to decorate the house inside and out, and want to revel in the general festive-ness that is the holiday season! So while I would love to regale you with tales of my winter veggie garden or the slime we made yesterday or the stalactites we are growing in the kitchen, I will have to refrain until after the holidays when I will hopefully be able to focus my attentions on my writing and my photography again. Right now, all I want to do is build fires in the fireplace, read books with the kids, watch old Christmas movies on TV, wrap presents, snuggle with warm doggies and drink hot cocoa with my family! So I wish you all a wonderful holiday season! May you all be well-fed and in the presence of family and good friends no matter how you celebrate! Cheers!

Old Faithful

I always know it's getting close to Christmas thanks to "Old Faithful". I have owned Christmas cacti before, most of them were blooming when I got them but were destined to never bloom again! This one is special. It has begun to bloom on Dec. 1st for the last 4 years now, just like clockwork! So I always feel the need to take a good photo of it, after all, I practically ignore the little thing for the rest of the year! It just sits in my window, totally non-descript, minding it's own business, then on December 1st it takes center stage! It just wouldn't be the holidays without it!

Hello All! I am freshly back from a wonderful week in New Mexico! The weather was mild, the sky was blue, the air was crisp and we did all sorts of wonderful things! I have finally purchased more Picassa Web storage and I've been going through and editing the over 500 photographs that were taken over the last week and preparing to regale you with tales of my travels! What else should I be doing on such a rainy day!

Life is detracting from my blogging!

I appreciate those of you that have been checking back, not finding anything and still checking back again! YIKES! Once we got back from Vegas, I was immediately thrown into preparation mode for my vow renewal that happened this past Saturday. And now I'm preparing to leave for a little over a week to head to NM for Balloon Fiesta and all the festive stuff that goes along with that. Then I'll be coming back to Halloween prep. But I do promise that blogging and pics will be a top priority when I return. Don't lose hope, for I am still here. Just busy as all hell!!! I will return October 9th and I look forward to posting about Vegas, about the vow renewal and about New Mexico. So don't give up on me, life has just been entirely too busy, which really, how can I complain?!? It's been a good busy! Chat with you soon!

I have not abandoned you!

Hello All! I just wanted to check in to let you know that I have not abandoned this blog! As you can tell from the last post, I have been busily preparing for the start of our school year. Making lesson plans, organizing the house, trying to find creative ways to deal with a preschooler while schooling a 2nd grader, and working hard to find field trips and other educational opportunities that might get us out of the house this fall since we've been cooped up inside for months! I am also needing to purchase more storage space for my photos. Blogger is informing me that I'm about to max out my Picassa Web album, so I need to figure out how to do that, and it will hopefully happen this weekend and I'll be back to blogging like crazy! So please bear with me!
